Spotlight Poet ~ Sara Biggs

Sara is one of the several poets that learned about Wherewithal through an online group of writers that keep each other motivated and on track with submissions.  I am grateful for her, and that group for introducing me to many great poets.

My Lost and Broken Part Would Like to Take a Meeting

She has no calendar, only a habit
of scurrying down hallways.

She holds back tears behind the gym lockers.
She ties Gordian knots in her hair.

Don’t expect her to acknowledge your arrival
but believe, she will have talking points prepared.

Readings of Ulysses.
Extended periods of lip biting.

She hopes you’ll leave your hands,
but bring the eyes of an enthusiast.

Play at sullen, but hold tight
to your strategic mind.

Help her recognize how want
lays under grief and where they meet

without dissolving.

The difference
in their heft and patterning.

What is possible for each.
Lift the layers; teach her

how to liquefy.
Then, drink.
